Process Development Engineer
40 hours per week

Wootzano Limited, a Scottish company in Edinburgh with its manufacturing base in Sedgefield, County Durham, was created to improve the way medicine is administered. This gave rise to the Nanject (previously known as Nanopatch) project which originated from an undergraduate thesis, aiming to create a pharmaceutical patch that can deliver drugs replacing traditional needles or syringes with nanoneedles. Today, Wootzano has a novel patent-pending technology for use in flexible electronics, robotics, electronic skin, medical devices, chemical/bio-sensing and drug delivery systems.
Wootzano is looking for a motivated process development engineer to work on a novel force/pressure sensor, which our company has developed.
The candidate will be working on developing cleanroom processing of our novel sensors. This novel technology will enable never-before-possible haptic and tactile feedback for robots, prosthetics, and smart surfaces. The project gives an opportunity for the candidate to work with cutting-edge technology that will solve real-world problems that industry face on a daily basis.

The ideal candidate should be creative and keen to apply their existing process development skills to an emerging field of technology. They should enjoy improving their skills and working within a friendly and dynamic team. The candidate should also be able to think out of the box and must have prior research experience.
Design of Experiments (DOE)
Statistical Process Control (SPC)
PhD, MEng, BEng in Electronic Engineering or related, PhD preferred
Excellent knowledge of metrology equipment such as Dektak, AFM, SEM, XRD
Excellent communication skills
Experience in robotics or comparable industry
The role is full time working mainly at the Sedgefield location but may occasionally be asked to travel to clients on-site address or Wootzano’s main office in Edinburgh, Scotland (reasonable travel subsistence costs will be paid for by Wootzano).
